Simeon’s prophecy at Jesus’ dedication was a spiritual revelation of Christ’s ministry. A powerfulword.
This is an important passage, but we will focus on v. 32, 34-35.. In them we find three wordswhich will serve as headings.
Threefold headings: Light, sign and sword.

Luke 2:32: “A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”
Definition: light is that which makes vision possible. Light is how Christ the living word comesto us.
2 Cor. 4:6: “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone inour hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
God works from darkness to light.
Gen. 1:1-5: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was withoutform, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering overthe face of the waters. 3 Then God said," Let there be light"; and there was light. 4 And God sawthe light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day,and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.”

God speaks into our darkness. He dwells in light.
Ps. 104:2: “He wraps himself in light as with a garment;”
Ps. 89:15: “Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O LORD, in thelight of Your countenance.”

The knowledge of God is not the result of intellectual pursuit, but impartation of divine light[enlightenment].. He is the source and initiator; He commanded the light to shine.
1 John 1:5: “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that Godis light and in Him is no darkness at all.”
As Simeon said: “a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel"(Luke 2:32).
